This is how you get straight edges when you paint walls
Perhaps you dream of painting the living room in a new colour, or maybe embark on a project with a painted wall. Regardless of the scope of the project, it is important to keep in mind that the result depends on the processing. That's why we give you a guide on how you can ensure nice, straight edges when you paint your walls.
The shopping list
-
Masking tape
-
Possibly. a spatula
-
A small brush
-
White paint
-
Other: The desired color for the wall, covering and paint roller.
Here's how you do it
Step 1. Use the masking tape to frame the area where you want to paint. Take time to get the tape as close and straight to the edge as possible. Here you can possibly use a spatula. Make sure the tape runs evenly and straight all the way along the edge.
Step 2. Paint with the white paint along the edge of the masking tape. Use a small brush.
Step 3. When the white paint is dry, the rest of the painting work begins with the desired wall colour.
Step 4. Peel off the masking tape when you have given the wall the layers of paint that are needed.
You must remember that
Preparation is paramount ; although it can be dead boring, the work before the actual painting process is crucial for the result. Use the time it takes when applying the masking tape.
Do not leave the tape on until the next day; it is misunderstood that the masking tape must only be removed when the wall is completely dry. Peel off the masking tape when you have finished giving the wall the number of layers it needs. Otherwise, you may experience problems with the tape sticking and making your edges ugly.
The white paint must dry completely; patience is a key word when it comes to painting a wall, and the same applies when the white paint needs to dry. If you start too early, you risk the white paint mixing with the other color and creating spots that are lighter in some places than others.
